Role Purpose
To participate and contribute in origination and deal flow for ICD from Egypt. This involves gaining an understanding of the local context & networking with local players in the geography allocated (FIs as well as key figures in the private sector and Government officials) to source deals and achieve ICD's origination targets for the region.
To ensure efficient delivery of ICD’s mandate within the MENA region mainly in Egypt by managing the portfolios of projects and forging productive collaboration and cooperation amongst business units , MC’s, and private partners.
Key Functional Accountabilities and Activities
Project Sourcing & Origination:.
- Participate in business development activities in Egypt by promoting ICD’s products, services and highlighting ICD’s value proposition to key stakeholders, including local companies, Islamic financial institutions, utilities, government agencies and official authorities.
- Identify and highlight to core business units new / existing products, services, or channels that may help in expanding ICD’s scope in Egypt.
Project Evaluation & Approval:
- Ensures smooth disbursement by resolving any bottlenecks in the disbursement process in liaison with the Operations division
- Participate in the activities to obtain on-the-ground information on potential projects / clients to facilitate due diligence, project structuring and support the case for project approval
- Contribute to and carry out detailed project appraisal, applying required quality standards, and capturing regional specifics as applicable
- Serves as regional communication focal point throughout the project lifecycle, engaging with developer, government and non -government entities in Egypt in liaison with the other Business units
Stakeholder Relationships Management:
- Maintain relationship with sector experts and project managers (whether internal or external) and bring them onto a project to ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Serves as a focal point and ‘resource centre’ for all matters related to the country
- Participate and coordinate for Egypt policy dialogue initiatives in relation to private sector investment, regulatory issues, Islamic finance and investment climate matters.
- Initiate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Egypt, including but not limited to financial institutions, corporate entities, government/ statutory bodies, Governor Office, industry practitioners relevant subject matter ,and strategic partners experts to support smooth running of division operations
- Highlight and market existing and prospective partnership opportunities to relevant departments for country, and thematic operations and programs
- Contribute to and coordinate the initiatives and activities to attract partners / co-financiers to participate the ICD’s new and existing programs and maximize leveraging of co-financing
- Maintain client relationships and acting as an advisor to help clients manage and complete their projects.
Advisory and consulting service:
- Seeks support of Economic Research to prepare research and analytical work to enhance understanding and proposes solutions to the development challenges facing the market in Egypt
- Identify gaps in the market and make recommendation for business units.
Qualifications/ Professional Experience
- Experience in Islamic financial products and services is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the local business environment and networking with key local players in Egypt.
- Ability to build relationships and strong networking skills with key figures in the private and government sector in Egypt.
- At least 8 years of relevant work experience in Relationship Management preferably in Banking/Financial services sector in Egypt.
- Bachelor’s degree Business Management or any additional relevant discipline is a must.
- A professional certificate in Business Relationship Management or any additional relevant professional certifications is a must.
Language Skills
Capable of communicating in two of the working languages (Arabic, English, French) of which English and Arabic is a must.
