Role

To act as IDB focal point for the assigned Member Countries  and to participate in the development of MCPS of the assigned countries. To monitor the implementation of development projects in the assigned countries as well as to carry out periodic reviews and analysis of the economic situation of assigned countries in order to identify areas of investments, and recommend financing programs based on the countries’ strategies.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Contribute effectively to the strategy development, annual work plan and budget of the department and supervise the implementation of the same.
  • Participate in country policy dialogues and be the coordinator of the development of the country strategies for the assigned member countries.
  • Assess country issues, needs and priority areas for interventions and identify opportunities in member countries in collaboration with sector departments and develop pipeline of projects. Provide feedback emerging factors that could impact country strategy
  • Co-ordinate the country program activities and monitor and follow-up the related country program on-going projects and identify actions for improvement and innovation.
  • Translate country strategies into sector programs, articulate impact of strategy and ensure that sector programs are driven by country strategies.
  • Coordinate with relevant member country representatives, the sector departments, regional and field offices on the preparation of robust operational plans for each country and manage budgets for the delivery of the plan in support of the agreed country strategy
  • Monitor and follow-up effectively on country development performance and on projects portfolio at the country and regional levels and ensure, in close collaboration with sector departments, operational effectiveness and balance of assistance and financing across the countries in the region
  • Act as a focal point for the countries assigned, build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, players, donors, development agencies, financial institutions in the in the countries assigned as well as in the region concerned.
  • Initiate and present new, innovative solutions and opportunities to member countries assigned.
  • Represent IDB in multilateral and regional events, such as coordinating meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare, review and update country profiles, assessment reports, country papers, country briefs, country insights and local environment knowledge and share this with sector departments and with any other relevant stakeholders including staff of the Bank
  • Participate in the preparation of policy and sector papers with the relevant departments within and outside the operations complex.
  • Analyse data and information from IDB technical cooperation activities and prepare progress reports for IDB management – including department management
  • Share the reports on technical cooperation analysis and relevant information with international organizations in members countries and the relevant stakeholders
Experience

5 years of work experiance as minimum.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree Economics (preferably development projects) / Development Studies / Business Administration / any relevant discipline .

  • Good exposure to planning and implementing development projects and programs
  • English: Proficient; Arabic and/or French preferable
  • Good exposure to planning and implementing development projects and programs
  • Economic and political knowledge of the assigned countries
