JOB PURPOSE
This role is responsible for administrative tasks necessary to support the department’s activities related to documentary credit-based transactions specifically the Issuance, Confirmation, Amendment, Extension, Negotiation, Acceptance and Cancellation of Import/Export Letters of Credit and Standby Letters of Credit. Also, with responsibility for adhering to the controls within the set Guidelines specific to Documentary Letters of Credit, efficient document checking and complete file maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure Documentary Credit applications are compliant with the financing terms and conditions, corporation’s Policies and Guidelines, Uniform Customs and Practice and International Standby Practices
- Handle the Issuance, Confirmation, Amendment, Extension, Negotiation, Acceptance and Cancellation of Import/Export Letters of Credit and Standby Letters of Credit
- Drafting the technical terms and conditions to ensure proper construction of Documentary Letters of Credit
- Examine Documentary Credits and trade documents for adherence with L/C terms, Uniform Customs and Practice, and consistency across trade documents
- Comply with set quality and controls when reviewing documentation, endorsement, and dispatching
- Ensure accuracy and timely recording of activities in the system
- Adhere to the controls within the set guidelines specific to compliance in coordination with the compliance function, Bill of Lading verification, invoices, verification of container at the port etc.
- Maintain complete records and track existing Letters of Credit for pending inquiries, discrepancies and resolution of documents and reporting as per department procedures
- Build positive client experience through support and trade advice on workability of the Documentary Credit
- Participate in department level improvement initiatives for Documentary Credits, documentation of manuals, department work plans, system development and enhancements etc.
- Check all relevant documentation for completeness, comprehensiveness, and accuracy to ensure that the required documentation is in place and liaising with Credit Admin to complete the required documentation, if needed.
- Coordinate with concerned functions to facilitate all associated activities, as required.
- Generating activity/progress reports for management and the clients
- Liaising with banks and other intermediary financial institutions to resolve any issues and ensuring all tasks are properly handled.
- Responding to requests and inquiries relating to documentary credit.
- Preparing relevant SWIFT messages
Qualifications & Other Certifications
- Bachelors/Graduate degree in Business, Finance or Economics
- Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS)
- Trade Operations
Language Skills
- English and Arabic are compulsory
Years of Experience
- Minimum 5 years in Trade Finance Operations especially in Documentary Credits
