Role Purpose:

The role of Governance and Policy Specialist, in coordination and under the technical guidance of the Lead, is responsible for developing, implementing, communicating and maintaining governance, risk and compliance policies, processes and procedures and ensuring their adherence and alignment with the Policy Management Framework. 



Corporate governance

  • Under the guidance of the Lead, reviews, updates and maintains the corporate governance framework as well as all governance related policies, procedures and documents (e.g. IDB Governance Manual, Organization Manual, Board of Executive Directors Committee charters, Management Committee charters, and the Delegation of Authority matrix) as per respective executive decisions.
  • Ensures that all policy related matters and processes in the Bank are aligned to the Policy Management Framework.
  • Ensures the proper communication of the governance policies, procedures and manual to IDB’s staff across the organization.
  • Coordinates the implementation of the governance policies, procedures and guidelines across the organization.
  • Liaises with General Secretariat to ensure the accessibility of Bank’s policies to BED members through the E-Board system.
  • Provides advisory support to the Islamic Finance Investments unit to ensure compliance with international agreements on corporate governance for investee companies.
  • Prepares standardized and customized report on governance and policy affairs as requested by the management.

Operational excellence

  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments, regulations and leading practices in the field and proposes any necessary actions.
  • Proposes and implements process improvements to increase efficiency, effectiveness and compliance of the related operations.
  • Provides necessary input for the preparation of the function’s budget 


Academic qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration or any other relevant field

Required languages

  • English (mandatory)
  • Arabic (preferred)
  • French (preferred)

Minimum number of years and nature of experience

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in corporate governance, Sharia practice or law, ideally within a Multilateral Development Bank
