Associate - Income and Capital Market Funds:

Role Purpose:

To assist the Program Lead in management of Income and Capital Markets Program, covering fixed income and capital market-based funds either managed internally (by ICD as General Partner (GP)) or externally (other GP). 

To assist the Program Lead in partnership development (sourcing fund manager/investors), pipeline development, fund conceptualization, fund structuring, fund due-diligence, approval (as per ICD credit approval process), deployment, post-monitoring activities and any required adhoc activities. 

 Key Responsibilities and Activities of the role:

  1.  Pipeline Development
  • Gather market intelligence in conducting industry & company research for the purpose of setting up Fixed income or Capital Market related funds.
  • Identify the key opportunities within member countries as well as the asset management universe and Regulatory framework for relevant product line.
  • Prepare first desk assessment reports for deals sourced (or in response to funding requests received).

       2.   Concept and Due-Diligence Efforts 

  • Manage all phases of the project (fund/transaction) cycle, from concept to implementation.
  • Prepare project deliverables by developing investment (fund/transaction) concept material.
  • Help in conducting discussion of partners, conduct due diligence, financial analysis, modelling, structuring (funds/transactions) while ensuring maximized reward-risk ratio objectives and adherence to fund investment policy.

      3.    Investment Approvals and Disbursements

  • Prepare execution documents (fund / transaction) and proposals for Investment Committee Management (ICM) approval.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Risk for ensuring documentation is in place (i.e. Credit & Legal Notes) for the Committee
  • Ensure that fund/deal structuring is carried out in line with the overall risk, legal and investment guidelines, and/or as per the parameters finalized from Investment Committee meetings.
  • On approval, expected to manage the Fund/Transaction legal structuring process up to due effectiveness and executing on respective Fund/Transaction disbursement as necessary.

      4. Monitoring and Performance

  • Ensure completion and due-delivery of internal and external (Investor) Performance Reporting as requested for Funds.
  • Assess portfolio performance for funds being operated out of the Income and Capital Market Platform.
  • Understand key financial indicators and benchmarks for fund performance regionally, as well as globally.
  • Monitor and report on portfolio risk indicators and liquidity forecast, and liquidity management performance as related to launched funds.
  • Oversee performance of existing underlying investment projects via financial analysis and monitoring on a transaction basis.

       5. Workaround and Recovery

  • Actively monitor any NPLs or illiquid assets, report on status and identify potential workout or divestment options with management and support functions.
  • Coordinate with the Legal and Risk Management teams to ensure that recovery /divestment strategies are implemented in a timely and efficient manner.

        6. Investor Relations Management

  • Support the Program Lead in developing new funds and strategic partnerships; knowledge management; fundraising, communications and outreach.
  • Identify investors/partners/fund managers, initiate initial contacts with the potential investors/partners/fund managers.
  • Preparing client (partner / investor) presentations and other related documentations / communication as and when requested by the Program Lead. 

       7. Adhoc Requirements

  • Help in Internal departmental documentation (manuals, policies, procedures, processes, technology, business planning etc.) as requested by Program Lead
  • Assist in any internal adhoc requests (memos, internal support documentation requests and others)
  • Prepare drafting/delivery of documentation as related to Strategy/ RMD /Audit requests and any initiative or high-level requests as related to AMD.

 

 

 


Experience:

5-7 years of experience in banking environment / financial institutions preferable in the Asset Management Domain

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance (Islamic Finance preferred)
  • A master’s degree in finance, MBA or similar discipline will be an advantage
  • A certificate in Financial Analyst (CFA), Management Accounting (CMA) , Certified Public Accountant (CPA ) or any relevant professional certifications are a plus
